A-New-Power

A friend recently asked me to paint a picture of her and her dog.  I had a blast doing it and I made a little money, but it got me thinking.  I'm wondering if it would be feasible to offer commissions for paintings here on deviantart.  Would anyone out there be interested in having me paint something for them?

Here's what I'm thinking;  The subject matter would have to be a character or such from an established source, something I can gather lots of reference for.  Basically a fanart painting.  And it would be done in my usual graphic, comicbook-esque style.  You can check out my painting folder for examples of my work.  I would only charge a small price, say around $30-$40 depending on the complexity of the subject matter.  That would get you a 16x20 or 18x24 inch canvas painting.  I'm not sure about shipping charges but I'm guessing maybe an additional $15 or so, I'd really have to look into that more.

I'm just spitballing the idea at this point, but is anyone interested in this?

Take a look at this.  Notice how the number of downloads is higher than the views?  Over the last few weeks the downloads have gone from a few dozen to the thousands.  That's odd.

The only thing I bought today was a set of new tires for my car for $300.

If I don't update for awhile you'll know it's because I couldn't afford food and starved to death.

I've been spending a lot of time over at the Threadless forum working on designs for shirts.  I just submitted this design, so it's waiting for approval.  In a day or two it should be up for voting but you can still go catch a sneak preview of it now.  I'll let you guys know when it's finally time to vote so you can help me try to get printed.
